We have been incredibly privileged to have met Deanna Swoboda, our new mentor! She was a member of Dallas Brass, a successful, touring brass ensemble, and she is now the new Professor of Tuba at Arizona State University. She has taken us under her wing to help us grow into a high class, professionally touring and recording group. This past semester, she met with us every week, teaching us essential principles for a group's success, establishing important connections for us, and getting us ready to tour next year! She helped us put together a 30-minute educational show, which we just performed four times at Red Mountain High School. The show includes some of our newest and coolest arrangements: Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye, Fix You/Clocks by Coldplay, and a fiddle tune that features Olivia fiddling Orange Blossom Special and The Devil Went Down to Goergia. The students at Red Mountain were a pleasure to perform for, and they were thrilled about our new music! Thanks guys! Check out the gallery below to see us performing and interacting with the students.
Next semester (January-May 2013), we will be performing our show several times a month at schools around the valley, whilst preparing for a community concert, too, that will feature new music, both cover and original, and each of us as a soloist! A big thank you to Deanna for all that she has done for us, and for a bright future together! Read more about Deanna here at her website.
